French roofing and cladding specialist chooses RubberGard EPDM SA for their new offices

In October 2022, French company HABIT-TOIT, specialized in roofing and cladding work, decided to try Elevate’s new RubberGard EPDM SA membrane for the roof of their new office, workshop and storage site in Lessay (north-western France). Its manager, Cyril Lebeury, had already been working for several years with other Elevate roofing membranes (RubberCover EPDM and RubberGard EPDM), so he felt curious about trying this new self-adhered solution.

Fully adhered

As this was the first project in France using RubberGard EPDM SA, three Elevate technical experts were present during the whole duration of the installation, as well as three from SVET, authorized distributor of Elevate products in western France, to provide support at each stage. The crew from HABIT-TOIT, already familiar with Elevate roofing systems, quickly caught up. In a single day, the roof of the whole building was made watertight.

“This self-adhesive solution opens up possibilities for roofers, who, like many, face a shortage of skilled labor,” says Jean-Luc Roudaut, Technical and Prescription Manager for Elevate roofing membranes in France. “It allows to deal with construction sites more efficiently while guaranteeing optimal quality,” he adds.

SIMPLIFIED INSTALLATION, MAXIMIZED COMFORT

Once the 3 m wide RubberGard EPDM SA membrane was unrolled and placed in the right place on the roof, the roofers just had to peel off the protective film and smooth down the membrane over the support. No need to apply bonding adhesive and wait for it to dry. As the bonding adhesive is directly integrated into the EPDM membrane, there is no need to move buckets of adhesives on the roof, meaning extra comfort for the roofing crew. Also, no more solvent fumes.

UNIFORM AND DURABLE ADHESION

The Secure Bond adhesive is factory-applied to the entire RubberGard EPDM SA membrane, ensuring uniform and strong adhesion to the substrate, from edge to edge. A guarantee of safety for the company and the project managers, who no longer have to fear strong winds. In addition, RubberGard EPDM SA can be installed even when temperatures are below zero (down to -7°C), a real advantage that allows carrying out installations virtually all year round.

RubberGard EPDM SA, which is 1.5 mm thick, has the same performance as the classic, non-self-adhered version. Thanks to its high resistance to ozone, UV radiation and extreme temperatures, it has a service life of more than 50 years.

“This new generation of roofing membranes is a real time saver on site,” says Cyril Lebeury from HABIT-TOIT. “If a project has a time constraint, for example, we know that we can prescribe this new self-adhered membrane with our eyes closed. For the rest, we will continue working with Elevate’s classic EPDM roofing membranes, as we have been installing these for 4 years and we are more than satisfied. They are lightweight, easy to work with and very durable», he adds.
