Presbyterian Hospital
Charlotte, North Carolina
As part of a two-year construction project that began in early 2009, the Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, N.C., determined it was time to replace several aging roofs. The 10 to 15 year old EPDM and built-up roofs required a complete tear-off on the concrete deck areas and retrofit roofing on the metal deck areas.
The contractor mechanically fastened 1.5-inch Elevate ISO 95+ GL polyiso insulation, Elevate ¼-inch tapered ISO 95+ GL polyiso insulation and ¼-inch DensDeck insulation cover board on the metal decks while each layer of insulation was adhered to the concrete decks with Elevate I.S.O. FIX Adhesive. Next, Elevate SBS Smooth self-adhered base sheets, Elevate SBS Torch granulated cap sheets and Elevate SBS metal flashing aluminum sheets were attached. In total, 60,000 square feet of modified bitumen roofing system was installed.
Durability, long-term performance and the ability to withstand extreme weather conditions were among the Presbyterian Hospital’s requirements for its replacement roof. The combination of SBS products were chosen because of their high-quality, warranty coverage and installation ease. Because the hospital was fully functional during construction, it was imperative that the roofing system emitted minimal fumes. Ensuring that the hospital remained completely leak free during the construction process was also a priority for the roofing crew.
The roof is protected by a Elevate Red Shield 10-year Warranty.
