Total roofing system for Dutch precision parts manufacturer new building

Over the past forty-five years, Dutch company Kusters Precision Parts has grown into one of the most important suppliers of precision mechanical components. In recent years, their building in Oss (North Brabant) had become too small, so a new office was required to accommodate the company's growth.

Since the production of precision components requires very expensive, state-of-the-art equipment, the building owner wanted a high-quality roofing system that would optimally protect the contents of the new building.

We were able to supply a total solution for this project, ensuring the complete compatibility between the different layers of the roofing system by supplying the insulation, a non-combustible cover board and the waterproofing membrane.

The excellent performance and proven durability were the deciding factors for choosing the complete roofing system based on Elevate’ RubberGard EPDM membrane and RESISTA AK PIR insulation, as well as the DensDeck Prime cover board.

The building owner also wanted to install solar panels on the roof. In this type of application, it is vital that the roofing system can support the solar installation for at least 20 to 25 years. EPDM roofing membranes are ideal as they have an expected service life of more than 50 years, twice as much as that of the solar panels, which usually have an average life of 25 years.

Fire safety was also very important for this project. The RubberGard EPDM roofing membrane has a low fire load and, in combination with the DensDeck Prime non-combustible cover board, they provided an excellent solution to increase fire safety. DensDeck Prime has excellent fire properties to limit damage from a possible fire caused by the solar panels and it also improves the compressive strength of the roof system.

THERE IS A LOT TO DISCOVER ABOUT EPDM

EPDM is the most future-proof roofing solution when it comes to sustainabilityperformance and design freedom. Learn more about the role it played within this project and many others by discovering its benefits.

How did EPDM elevate this project?

LONGEVITY

EPDM roofing membranes last for at least 50 years and their structure and elasticity remain unchanged. They can be easily repaired, which allows them to last even longer. No doubt: EPDM is the most durable roofing material available.

SOLAR ROOFS

The UV resistance of EPDM is the highest among all available roofing solutions. It lasts longer than the solar panels, which allows to create sustainable, low-maintenance solar roofs that function for many decades.
