For over 100 years, Firestone has been a trusted name in quality rubber products.
It all started in 1903 when Harvey S. Firestone founded the Firestone Tire & Rubber Company manufacturing tires for the first mass-produced automobiles in America. In the next decades Firestone expanded to a worldwide organization developing diversified rubber products. Today the Firestone brand is internationally known as a symbol of quality rubber products, innovation and leadership.
In 1980, Firestone Building Products entered the commercial roofing industry. The first Firestone RubberGard EPDM roof was installed in Wisconsin (USA) in 1980 and still remains in service today.
Firestone Building Products' first EPDM manufacturing plant opened in Prescott, Arkansas (USA) in 1983. This plant has increased capacity over the years to become the largest EPDM manufacturing facility in the world. In 1999, Firestone Building Products introduced its thermoplastic roofing membrane UltraPly TPO. That same year, its first TPO manufacturing plant opened in Wellford, South Carolina (USA)
Throughout the years, Firestone Building Products has grown from one to twenty-one plants and expanded into multiple product lines, including EPDM and TPO roofing membranes, modified bitumen roofing membranes and polyisocyanurate (PIR) insulation.
To date, the company has produced and installed over 1,500,000,000 m² of single-ply roofing membranes worldwide. This performance has made Firestone Building Products a leading manufacturer of EPDM and TPO roofing membranes.
In 1990, Firestone Building Products decided to expand into markets outside the USA, establishing a regional head office for Europe, Middle East and Asia in Brussels (Belgium). Today, the compnay has set up a wide network of distributors, contractors and sales representatives throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
Firestone Building Product's tradition of innovation has allowed the company to become the premier single-source manufacturer and marketer of all the critical components needed for a successful, long-term roofing or lining solution.
As we look into the future, Firestone Building Products continues to research, develop and introduce new and improved commercial roofing and lining products in a never-ending effort to limit the company's carbon footprint.
As of April 2021, Firestone Building Products is a part of Holcim Ltd, the world's global leader in building solutions. Together, Firestone and Holcim Ltd offer a comprehensive range of sustainable building solutions to architects and engineers.
