Bridgestone Americas Builds New Headquarters in Nashville
In 2017, Bridgestone Americas embarked on a journey to unite U.S.-based business units and employees in close proximity in the greater Nashville area. In the early stages of making this vision a reality, the company commissioned a new corporate Americas headquarters to be built in downtown Nashville. In alignment with the company’s environmental mission statement “to help ensure a healthy environment for current and future generations,” Bridgestone set out to create a LEED® Gold Certified structure that supports their vision of a bright, sustainable future for the company.
The Challenge
Bridgestone enlisted the help of Elevate Building Products (FSBP), a company subsidiary, to supply the project with a premium roofing system to protect Bridgestone Tower for years to come. As an industry-leading provider of commercial roofing and building envelope solutions, FSBP outfitted the headquarters building and contributed to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification, the most widely-used green building rating system in the world.
The Result
The roof, installed by Elevate Master Contractor Porter Roofing, is composed of three layers of Elevate ISO 95+TM GL fully adhered insulation, one layer of Elevate ISOGARDTM HD Coverboard, a Elevate fully adhered 80-mil UltraPlyTM TPO membrane and TPO walkway pads, all backed by a 30-year Elevate Red ShieldTM Platinum Warranty. Elevate ISO 95+ insulation delivers one of the highest R-value ratings per inch (a measurement of effectiveness) versus other insulation materials and the Elevate TPO membrane’s white reflective surface exceeds the EPA’s ENERGY STAR requirements.
The roofing system contributed to LEED points in the categories of Sustainable Sites, Energy and Atmosphere, and Materials & Resources. This combination of products will have an environmentally, economically and socially preferable lifecycle impact, yielding results such as lower energy costs and a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions.
Bridgestone Tower is now home to more than 1,700 employees and contractors. The building enhances Nashville’s skyline and represents best practices in a workplace by providing collaborative and personal spaces for employees in an inspiring environment. The building features:
514,000 square feet and 31 floors;
LEED Gold certification;
Natural light and collaborative spaces;
A conference center; and
Amenities including cafeteria, fitness center, indoor putting green, ergonomic workspaces and a coffee and juice bar.
The design and construction of Bridgestone Tower, complete with Elevate Building Products solutions, are a direct reflection of the company’s commitment to its environmental mission and employees.
