William Bradley Bryant Technology Center Decatur, Georgia The William Bradley Bryant Technology Center is part of the DeKalb County School System and houses the district’s online school, instructional technology department and administrative offices. As part of the district’s Capital Improvement Plan, a complete tear-off and reroof of the building’s existing 20-year-old BUR roof was scheduled, because it had exceeded its life cycle and was beginning to have structural issues. Around the time the re-roof project was up for bid, the district had implemented a green initiative which required a white reflective roof. A roofing consultant group was brought in for their expertise and recommended Elevate UltraWhite™ Modified Bitumen Cap Sheets for its proven performance. After reviewing the Elevate UltraWhite Modified Bitumen options available, Atactic Polypropylene (APP) was ultimately selected for its reflectivity and ability to maintain granules. First, two layers of Elevate ISO 95+™ GL insulation were installed over the concrete deck. Then, 51,000 square feet of APP 180FR cap sheets were heat-welded to complete all three roofs of this building. To remedy any potential drainage issues that may arise, the contractor also installed additional Elevate Tapered ISO 95+ GL insulation on the roof. Upon completion, the roofing system was given a 20-year Elevate Red Shield™ Warranty.
