Earlier in 2021, the company built a new warehouse at their main location in Fondo (Trentino) consisting of a 2,600 m² basement storage area and a 1,500 m² building above ground.
One of the key challenges for the project was that the flat roof of the new warehouse could be used as a storage place for timber and therefore had to be able to resist the vibrations and weight of the timber and of the vehicles used to move it. It was essential to have a roofing membrane capable of absorbing with its own elasticity the movements of the support, as well as the shocks and stresses caused by the heavy vehicle traffic. The tight installation time also had to be respected to minimize the interference with the daily functioning of the company, which remained operational throughout the duration of the works.
Elevate’ 1.5 mm RubberGard EPDM roofing membrane was chosen by the designer and the client to waterproof the flat roof because they were looking for a material that was at the same time robust, quick to install and elastic. Thanks to its outstanding elasticity, RubberGard EPDM easily accommodates the movements of the structure and has no problem following the vibrations caused by moving machinery.
The roofing contractor for this project was Impermenapace, a Elevate’ authorized contractor that has over 10 years of experience in the use of Elevate membranes in large sheets, both in the roofing and lining sectors. They were able to carry out the installation very quickly, using membrane sheets up to 15.25 m wide. The membrane, loosely laid over the substrate, was afterwards ballasted with a concrete pour and a finishing layer suitable for vehicle transit.
EPDM is the most future-proof roofing solution when it comes to sustainability, performance and design freedom. Learn more about the role it played within this project and many others by discovering its benefits.
