Sketchers North American Operations Warehouse
Ranch Belago, California
The country’s largest LEED®-certified industrial-use building, Highland Fairview’s 1.8 million-square-foot distribution and logistics center currently houses Sketchers’ us Inc.’s North American Operations Warehouse.
CRS Commercial utilized a 15-man crew to install a 45-mil Elevate UltraPly™ TPO Roofing System on the facility. To achieve a Class A fire rating, two layers of fiberglass matt underlayments were first installed onto the wood deck. Over the underlayments, the TPO membrane was mechanically fastened and the field seams were hot-air welded to mirror a FM 1-90 installation
To comply with the design of two four-hour fire-rated walls in the facility, CRS Commercial transferred approximately 670 tons of river rock onto the roof and created 50-foot-wide by 685-foot-long rock ballasts on either side of the fire-rated walls – all without damaging the roofing membrane. The rock ballasts were put in place to help contain a fire to the section where it originated, if a fire were ever to occur.
The roofing portion of this significant project took five months and was completed in April 2011, with the crew averaging 42,500 square feet per day. An 808,000 watt Firestone Thinfilm Photovoltaic System was completed in August of 2012, covering 220,000 sq. ft. of the roof.
